Chicken Soup Recipe For Children with Flu


Chicken SoupIt is  an old-wives story that individuals, especially children, will need to eat chicken soup when they have flu.  What makes chicken soup good children with flu symptoms exactly? It’s because a bowl of chicken soup has ingredients that’s good for boosting the immune system, which therefore helps the body fight off flu virus.

Ingredients:

  • 1 chicken carcass
  • 150g cooked chicken
  • 50g spaghetti pasta
  • 2 onions
  • 500ml milk (non-fat)
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 chicken cube
  • 300ml hot water (preferably boiling temperature)
  • 1 to 1 1/2 tablespoon cornflour
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • A pinch of nutmeg
  • Chili flakes to add spice (optional)

How To Cook:

  1. Break up the carcass and pop it into a pan. Peel and chop the onions into tiny pieces, then add it to the pan with the milk and bay leaves.
  2. Dissolve the chicken cube in a boiling water. Then add to the pan, let it simmer for 40 minutes.
  3. Strain the liquid and return to the pan. Mix the cornflour with cold water, stir in some hot stock and then add this mixture to the pan.
  4. Bring to the boil, stir, then add the pasta and cook for 10 minutes more.
  5. Cut the cooked chicken into cubes (strips if desired). Then add to the pan.
  6. Let it simmer for another 5 minutes (just enought to heat the chicken meat). Add salt and pepper to taste, add a pinch of nutmeg (optional) and then add chili flakes (optional).
